Bath University Sampler Aran Throw- Crochet-Along....
BUS AT CAL - plan Draft 1....
It occurred to me that those of you who may be joining me with this project may wish to have an advance idea of the plan for the throw.
Whilst all the details have not yet been decided I was thinking of a design which radiates out from a central panel and has a few repeating elements .
It is not therefore a completely ''true'' sampler with only one square per new stitch or stitch combination.
My first rough draft is as above, though this may change....
In this initial plan there are about 15 different squares and they are repeated in varying numbers as per the list below in the photo.
Some are repeated, 4, 6, 8 or 2 times....
I have not yet decided which square is which in terms of the ''symbols'' used to identify the squares in the above. And you can of course assemble your squares in any way you prefer.
My other design choice is to crochet the squares together at the end with the same yarn but with ridges formed on the ''right'' side of the fabric.
As shown above but not necessarily these squares and a contrast was used to demonstrate only, I will be using the same graphite yarn to connect the squares. The ones above are crocheted together using double crochet stitches, I prefer this to sewing as it has more ''give'' , which is required and more comfortable if you wish to drape this throw over the shoulders .... as in sitting studying...
What do you think?
Will you be sewing or crocheting your squares together?
